Jaipur: Chartered Speed Limited has expanded its electric bus operations to all eight primary urban centres in Rajasthan under the PM e-Bus Sewa scheme, taking its electric fleet share nationwide to 25 per cent, the company said.
The company’s Rajasthan network now covers Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kota, Bikaner, Ajmer, Udaipur, Bhilwara and Alwar, making it the first mobility operator to establish electric bus coverage across all eight primary urban nodes in the state under the scheme, it claimed.
As part of the current rollout, 24 electric buses have commenced operations in Jaipur and Bhilwara, while another 47 have been deployed across Bikaner, Udaipur, Kota, Alwar, Ajmer and Jodhpur. The deployment takes the current number of e-buses operating across the eight cities to 71.
The expansion covers several key urban and economic corridors in Rajasthan and strengthens Chartered Speed’s electric mass-transit operations under the PM e-Bus Sewa scheme. It follows an earlier secured order for more than 800 buses in the state.
Chartered Speed currently operates more than 2,000 buses across India and said the Rajasthan expansion has increased the electric vehicle share of its nationwide operating fleet from around 10 per cent to 25 per cent.
The company said its overall fleet serves more than 3.5 lakh passengers daily across multiple mobility segments.
The Rajasthan operations are supported by a 22 MW charging backbone, with the company focusing on deploying electric buses on high-density corridors along with supporting charging infrastructure.
“By integrating over 800 e-buses into high-density corridors alongside a captive 22 MW charging backbone, we prove that capital-efficient GCC models can de-risk infrastructure investments, optimise municipal transit, and drive long-term decarbonization at scale,” Sanyam Gandhi, Whole-Time Director, Chartered Speed Limited, said.
The Rajasthan expansion is also expected to generate more than 1,500 direct skilled jobs, according to the company. The jobs will span telemetry, fleet management, technical maintenance and driving operations.
Established in 2010, Chartered Speed provides intercity and intra-city transportation services across six states and has operations across public transportation, employee mobility, school transportation and electric mobility.
