Friedrichshafen: ZF Friedrichshafen AG has announced major changes in its leadership structure following a meeting of its Supervisory Board on Wednesday. The company has appointed Andreas Moser, currently head of ZF’s Industrial Technology Division, as a Member of the Board of Management responsible for the Commercial Vehicle Solutions and Industrial Technology divisions, as well as the India region. His appointment will take effect from November 1, 2025.
In another key move, Sebastian Schmitt has been named the new head of the Electrified Powertrain Technology Division. The division consolidates ZF’s conventional, hybrid, and electric passenger-car drivetrain technologies. Schmitt will report directly to ZF CEO Mathias Miedreich, who remains responsible for the division at the Board level.
The restructuring also sees the Group Board of Management reduced from six to five members. To streamline decision-making and strengthen strategic direction, CEO Miedreich has introduced a new governing body that includes a Transformation Committee.
Dr. Rolf Breidenbach, Chairman of the ZF Supervisory Board, said the leadership changes were aimed at bringing clarity and stability to the company’s management structure. “In Andreas Moser, we’ve found a Board member who has been with ZF for more than 30 years, many of them in key leadership roles across Commercial Vehicle Solutions and Industrial Technology. This means competence and continuity,” Breidenbach said. “We’ve succeeded in establishing a strong management committee within a short time to address the Group’s current challenges.”
CEO Mathias Miedreich expressed confidence in the restructured leadership team. “With this new Management Board, we have a strong and highly competent leadership team that will successfully guide ZF into the future,” he said.
Moser, born in 1963, joined ZF in 1992 and has held several leadership positions in business unit management and sales. He led the Commercial Vehicle Solutions Division from 2020 before moving to Passau in April 2021 to head the Industrial Technology Division.
Sebastian Schmitt, an industrial engineer, has been with ZF for nearly two decades. Before his current role leading the Electrified Powertrain Systems product line, he served at ZF’s Saltillo facility in Mexico and as managing director of the Brandenburg transmission plant.
The latest reshuffle marks a significant step in ZF’s ongoing transformation as the company continues to align its structure with its strategic priorities in electrification, automation, and sustainability.
