Kärcher expands India manufacturing, launches locally made cleaning machines

New Delhi: Kärcher India has expanded its domestic manufacturing footprint with the launch of a range of locally produced professional cleaning machines, strengthening the country’s role in the company’s global production network.
The new portfolio, unveiled at the company’s Training Centre in Noida, includes machines for floor cleaning, sweeping and high-pressure cleaning, catering to commercial and industrial applications, Kärcher India said in a statement.
The expansion is part of Kärcher’s global Strategy 2030, which identifies India as a key market for growth. The company operates 18 manufacturing plants globally and aims to strengthen local production capabilities to meet rising domestic demand while building the potential to serve regional markets.
The locally manufactured range includes walk-behind and ride-on scrubber dryers, single-disc floor-cleaning machines, battery-operated sweepers, manual push sweepers and cold-water high-pressure cleaners.
The machines are designed for applications across manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, hospitality, automotive, infrastructure and institutional facilities.
Markus Limberger, Chief Operating Officer of Alfred Kärcher SE & Co KG, said strengthening manufacturing capabilities in India was an important part of the company’s growth ambitions.
“By expanding local production, we are bringing manufacturing closer to our customers while building a scalable base for long-term growth,” he said, adding that the company remained committed to maintaining its global engineering, quality and safety standards.
Kärcher said its localisation efforts extend beyond assembly to include domestic fabrication of components such as heavy-gauge steel chassis, high-capacity roto-moulded tanks and cast brush decks, increasing local value addition.
The machines incorporate features designed for Indian operating conditions, including high-dust environments, demanding industrial applications and extended operating cycles. These include rugged structural components, sealed electronics, enhanced filtration and simplified maintenance features.
The company said the products undergo endurance testing, including 100-hour stress tests, along with automated end-of-line diagnostic validation to ensure operational reliability.
The expansion is also expected to improve product availability, shorten supply routes and strengthen after-sales service and spare-parts support in India.
Kärcher is targeting strong double-digit annual production growth across its localised product lines. Its future plans include expanding into heavy industrial vacuum cleaners, larger ride-on sweepers and municipal cleaning platforms, alongside greater localisation of spare parts.
The company said increased domestic manufacturing would also strengthen its participation in government, municipal, public sector undertaking and public infrastructure projects where local-content requirements apply.
While India will initially serve its growing domestic commercial and industrial cleaning market, the expanded manufacturing base could eventually support wider regional requirements, the company added.
