Mumbai: Tata Motors, India’s largest commercial vehicle maker, has announced that it will fully pass on the recent reduction in Goods and Services Tax (GST) to customers across its entire commercial vehicle range. The revised prices will take effect from September 22, when the new GST rate of 18 percent comes into force.
Girish Wagh, Executive Director at Tata Motors, called the move a “bold and timely step” to boost India’s transport and logistics sector. “Inspired by the Prime Minister’s vision and the progressive reforms announced by the GST Council, Tata Motors is proud to extend the full benefit of GST reduction on all our commercial vehicles to customers across the country,” he said.
The price cuts are expected to ease the financial burden on transporters, fleet operators and small businesses by lowering the total cost of ownership. Tata Motors believes this will also encourage faster fleet modernisation, offering operators greater access to advanced and cleaner mobility solutions while improving efficiency and profitability.
Depending on the model, customers could see significant savings. Price reductions will range from Rs 2.8 lakh to Rs 4.65 lakh on heavy commercial vehicles (HCVs), Rs 1 lakh to Rs 3 lakh on intermediate and light medium commercial vehicles (ILMCVs), and Rs 1.2 lakh to Rs 4.35 lakh on buses and vans. Small commercial vehicles and pickups will become cheaper by Rs 30,000 to Rs 1.1 lakh, while SCV passenger variants will see reductions of Rs 52,000 to Rs 66,000.
The company has also encouraged customers to place bookings early to take advantage of the new pricing during the upcoming festive season.
